We have 102°F here in LA and we all know that officially our brain cannot function correctly after 100°F. So I'm just going to quote from their site:
Are You Generic? is a group of artists that seeks to protest, to question, and to disprove. Its nemeses are unethical corporations, censorship, the slanted media, hypocrisy, excessive advertising, and plain stupidity. Its heroes are art, discussion, independent thought, and creation.
Are You Generic intends to fuse the cry of protest and demonstration with aesthetic graphic design -- to replace the Tommy/GAP/Nike logos with rallying statements of assertion. We hope to flourish as a grass roots operation -- spreading by word of mouth.

Well, my "to post" list is getting too long so I will have to combine these new designs in one post. You don't mind, do you? OK. So all time favorite store, Fantastic Bonanza , has three new designs out, one of which is a revamped Mustachio now with some fancy elements such as fuzzy and shiny specialty inks. Special note to The People's Condiment; huge red Lenin portrait with a humorous hint? You're killing me guys! You can pre-order these designs now and pay a little less. Finally, Rethink Clothing has two new shirts designed as always by student artists and in super cool prices.

OK, I just couldn't resist posting this video with a scene from Notting Hill... Rhys Ifans was the best accent in this movie...

Some good t-shirts found on a new site called Wooshka. Like many places, Wooshka features an online competition with public voting, which results in a variety of styles. An interesting twist to this platform is that members don't just vote for the designs but also for everything that has to do with the store and the products (from the fabrics to the design of the site). My favorite design is this crazy Retro Skull, which basically features a retro...skull...

When I received a message from Troy Mattison Hicks, one of the owners of Trouble Tease, saying "I love to draw ufos, buckteeth spaced out people picking flowers, and dumb dogs" I knew that this wouldn't be an ordinary store. But nothing, nothing, could ever prepare me for that awesomeness called Trouble Tease. These shirts are rad! They're weird in such a beautiful way, they're odd, psychedelic pieces with amazing coloring and details. The designs are printed on Royal Apparel 100% combed cotton shirts and they are extremely limited.

Two new Akumu Ink designs are available for sale and they rock! "Impaled" and "Shattered" both feature two widely used themes, skulls and hearts, but with interesting positioning and sizing they look absolutely fantastic.

I don't have much to say about this besides the fact that is one sick shirt! Here's the description from the site:
This simple line drawing has no hidden images or meanings. If you see anything but black lines, consult your optometrist or book in an appointment with a chiropractor, or go see a witch doctor who can make you some noxious potion containing mildly poisonous toad skins. There is nothing here but black lines (and maybe white lines). And guess what; if the shirt alone is not sick enough for you, then you can combine it with the matching ipod sticker too!
Oh, except for that huge freaking skull in the middle of course, that’s meant to be there.

I'm so proud to introduce this next shop and the reason is that Cosmic Soda is the product of some very talented people from my home country, Greece. You see, most t-shirts you'll find in Greece are either your basic touristic crap or the typical big branded t-shirts. So it's such a pleasant surprise to see these folks overcoming all the Greek bureaucracy (Greece is not exactly the paradise of entrepreneurship) and come up with such a wonderful online store and so fresh designs. Speaking of designs, Cosmic Soda is running an online competition where you can cast your vote for the designs you favorite. Another thing you should know about this store is that they make their own t-shirts, they choose the fabrics, they sew the shirts, and they print the designs using silk printing. I've been told that the package is accompanied by other goodies too, so I'm looking forward to receiving mine in the mail soon.
I found Cosmic Soda through Emptees, the hottest place to be right now in the whole t-shirt universe.

You, my friends, may think that 410 BC is just the date when the Athenians restored Democracy but, trust me, this is not just it. 410 BC is also the name of a very interesting t-shirt store, which I discovered through Tshirt Island! The designs are fresh and confident and I sooo love the use of color. The team of 410 BC is primarily a group of young artists that simply like designing clothes for fun and, if I judge from their photo shoots, they truly must be having some great time. These limited edition shirts are usually priced around $28, which to my opinion is not all that expensive but, if it makes you feel better, you should know that 15% of the profit will go to a some charitable cause and that all shirts are made in the USA from 100% organic cotton. The good news is that they currently have a spring sale which will save you 20% off your order! Just use code "springsale" at check out.

I don't normally post about posters but I think I owe to write about these specific posters. Eric Smith was recently diagnosed with cancer and decided to create a poster series with some quotes that have helped him through this whole process. The posters feature positive, strong messages about life and I think would make some awesome t-shirts as well. They cost $12.95 and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Live Strong Foundation.
Special thanks to Jon Kruse from Mediocore Clothing for sending me the info.

Woven Flesh is a beautiful store from Scandinavia, selling some amazing shirts. Their designs are inspired by Japanese kids books and eastern European fairytales. The goal is to produce 4-5 collections each year and each collection has a special theme. I personally loved their designs for their meticulous innocence. Having said all these, I know you'll hate me when you'll find out that these shirts are not the cheapest around. They cost € 46,75 (taxes included) which is about $72 (apparently this is considered a pretty normal price in the Scandinavian countries). I know, I hate myself too... but on the other hand you should know that they are extremely limited (usually only 2 of each color style) so at least you know you're not gonna run up to anyone else wearing the same shirt. One last thing before I close: excellent photos!
