You Are What you Eat

Been trying to manage my weight later, in other words I'm on diet, and, trust me, I have zero tolerance for lukewarm slogans like "you are what you eat". But when I saw this shirt from DoubleTake I cracked up! You Are What You Eat is the second design (I've already covered the first one) coming out of DoubleTake, who has two out of two successful designs. Use coupon "tati10" to save 10% off your order.

Yep, the new Electric Zombie collection is out and is awesome. It consists of about ten new designs with a much darker tone than the previous line, and is creepier than ever. As always, some of the designs feature foils (like this one), which is kind of my soft spot, and new characters are introduced, such as snowmen and werewolves. These shirts range from $15 to $20 and you can buy older designs for as low as $10 bucks (like this sweetie).

With a return to the roots this line, we see the trademark Movie poster styles of the master of macabre graphics (Kyle Crawford) make a prominent return. "Friday The 13th", "Maximum Overdrive", and "They Live" all make appearances in righteous form as well as key designs from todays top horror obsessed graphics designers featuring Werewolves, Abominable Snowmen, Zombies, and of course none other than "Evil Dead" trilogy star and deity of 80s horror camp Bruce Campbell.

Long Shirts

The main idea behind Long is super "length t-shirts but with a skinny fit". This new brand comes from UK and is influenced by the creativity of "harajuku" fashion. Even though the focus is on the length of the shirt, the designs are pretty interesting too, featuring simple bold designs mainly with geometric shapes. These shirts are screen-printed by hand and will cost you a good £24.

Randr Apparel Moving Sale

Randr is moving from BigCartel to a new site and is having blowout sale of older shirts. Most of these won't be reprinted, so now is your last chance.

New Seibei Shirts are Finally out!

Yey! Always weird, always color-full, always super cool, the new Sebei collection is here! Because I usually go for the weird stuff, and I'm not gonna make an exception now, I'll go with Best Friends Forever and Stay Strong. How awesome are these shirts? Taco Dinosaur seems like an obvious follow up of the famous Sandwich Dinosaur, but according to David, he doesn't wanna be "That Guy Who Has Dinosaurs Demanding Different Foodstuffs", and so this design will only be available until May 1st. You better get this one if you want a piece of Seibei history. Finally, I had mention this design back in my Unique LA show wrap-up, it's designed by Jimmy Heartcore and is maybe the most disgusting celebration of the life cycle (kind of "I poop therefore I am").
You might know it already but you can save 10% off your order by typing the code "katrina" at checkout. ;-)
(I must be very excited because I flooded this post with tons of links...)

Shot Dead in the Head and the Banksy Shirts

Many things have been said (or maybe written) about SDIH's decision to print a line of shirts with the artwork of British street artist Banksy. I never covered the issue because, well, I don't care. It is still unclear to me if these guys have the consent of the artist or not, but in any case I thought it's interesting the fact that with each sale SDIH will make a donation of arts supplies to British primary schools (starting with primary schools in Banksy’s old neighborhood at Bristol). In addition, schools can submit and sell their designs through online webstore KidsTees and get a share of the revenue. These shirts are fairly priced at £12 or you can buy two for £20.

St. Patrick's Day Sale at Amorphia Apparel

Quick note to let you know that all orders of $25 or more receive a discount of 17% at Amorphia Apparel and sister stores, WearScience and Teach the Controversy. Use code "MARCH19".

Ser-vice is Good

Typography, geometric shapes, stripes, and dots. If this is your thing, then you should definitely check out Ser-vice. As I've many times said, less is more, and that's exactly the case of these well balanced and sophisticated shirts.

Ser-vice is a lifestyle brand focusing on clean aesthetics and modern lines. Our approach to life is simple, yet very detailed. We look for the best in everything and love what we do. Our roots are in graphic design, but we're driven by architecture, furniture, good food, friendships, surf trips, flip tricks, photography and smart design. We strive to produce items that we enjoy ourselves and our friends are proud to support. Through our view of environment and culture we look to improve the aesthetics of our world and yours. All of our items are produced in limited number, with attention to details and quality.
These shirts are printed on American Apparel and cost $32, but there's also a sale page, where past collections are sold for $19.

Voyages Extraordinaires at TeeFury

Today's TeeFury is Voyages Extraordinaires, drawn by Luke Drozd and inspired by the amazing Jules Verne. I just love it!

It's the "Father of science fiction" Jules Verne, sitting on a bench, daydreaming away. Behind the glaze of his eyes he dreams of sentient balloons, paddle driven underwater craft and spacecraft manned by a chimp called Henri. What a plum! Its said that for many years Verne's writings were seen as being below intelligent adults, i often feel the same about my work, and all the better for it.

J!NX Blowout Sale

I've been willing to write about Huebucket for a while now but never had the chance, so today that's a cloudy SoCal Saturday and I'm stuck home (how spoiled are we?), I finally have some time to write about this store. Huebucket is a company based in Bangkok, Thailand, that designs and prints limited edition shirts. The designs are made (if I'm not wrong) by artist huebucket who is not a stranger to the t-shirt community, since his designs have been already printed successfully by Threadless, DBH, TeeFury, Shirt.woot and others. I'm a big fan of his art and of course I own some of his creations so I'm quite excited with the news that he now has his own store. His designs feature, how can I put it, realistic drawings in very surreal situations creating relaxing fantasy worlds. They're like a bridge between everyday life and ideas. Do I make any sense? Anyway, I'm not an art critic so I guess that's the best you'll get from me. Check them out!

Diogo Machado aka "add fuel to the fire" is a freelance artist from Portugal that likes to design t-shirts and from time to time sell them through his site. He just released a new bunch of shirts, called Ignited, and asked me to check them out. The new designs, four to be exact, are limited edition runs with only 40 pieces of each design printed. My favorite design is the Mystic, a one color print that I'm still trying to figure out what is going on in there (good luck with that!). The shirts cost €24, but before you start yelling at me and Europe, let me tell you that worldwide shipping is included in the price.

Who Watches the Watches?

Inspired by the movie Watchmen that will be in theaters in a few weeks, this awesome design from Go Ape takes a much lighter tone. I know I'll be disappointed by the movie but I still hope. Besides, I totally adore the trailer's song by Smashing Pumpkins... So anyway back to the shirt, the watchmen are now watches and we, my friends, are the watchers. Or something like that... The world will look up and shout, "Save Us!" and I’ll look down and whisper, "No!"

Who doesn't Like Yetis?

Right? I love yetis, you love yetis, we all love yetis! Having said that, here's the ultimate yeti shirt. On a first look you might go yea.. whatever... but wait! Take a closer look and you'll realize that this is not exactly a print, it's a plushie fabric sewed on the shirt! How cool is that? I'm wondering... how do you wash that shirt? It comes to you by Hungarian duo,Szalontai Ilona and Simon Tibor, and is sold through their Etsy store where they mainly sell plushies and a few other cute stuff.
Hat tip to Tee.ms.

50% off at Invocation

Invocation usually has a handful of designs available, but nevertheless you might like a couple of them and especially when you can save a good whole 50% off. Use code "JUMP" at checkout. I love twitter...

Greenman from Vig Tees

Maybe not the most obvious choice for St. Patrick's day, but surely this is a shirt that you can wear in any other day of the year too (unlike most of St. Patrick's shirts out there). Greenman is one of the latest releases from Vig Tees and one of the things I like about it is the size of the print that covers most of the front side. It is printed on American Apparel and will cost you $18, but keep in mind that all orders of $25 or more get free shipping.

Cartel Line Shirts

I run across Cartel e few weeks ago and I love their shirts. It's been a while since a rebellious style brand has been featured in this blog and I kind of missed it. According to their release, their shirts "run the subversive spectrum from fascist child revolutionaries, to consumerist parodies, to straight up republican mockery." What's not to like? Seriously, they put a lot of thought into these designs, they're not your classic old school revolutionary designs but rather deliver a contemporary no bs attitude about politics and lifestyle. I also love the look of their website (although navigation could have been a little better) with the photos of people wearing masks and holding riffles. Unfortunately, you cannot buy those shirts directly from their website (at least for the moment) but they're available through other online vendors such as 80's Purple.

I'm absolutely sure that sometime ago I wrote a post about Spindustry Clothing, but I cannot find it! So anyway, I accidentally "bumped into" their website today and found out that they offer all their precious shirts for $15! I wish I knew earlier though, because most of their sizes are gone, but in any case you should check them out. They're really cool, the kind of shirts that never go unnoticed, and for only $15 bucks!

Beautiful/Decay Products on Sale

Beautiful/Decay is putting lots of products on sale. Over 47 items go for the bargain price of just 9.99 and below, and another 68 items under the price of $24.99. Besides the classic B/D t-shirts you'll also find killer wallets, zines, posters, past magazine issues and more.

Chimpogo is a brand new community-based t-shirt company out of London, UK that hosts a monthly design competition. Although you'd expect a diversity of styles, it looks like there's a preference for cute and funny designs that feature some odd imagery. They are printed on American Apparel 100% cotton tshirts and cost £21. For those of you interested in submitting your design, the winner gets a payment £500 in cash and you can find more info here.

Rhetoric T-shirts

Rhetoric is a brand new t-shirt company that seems quite promising. The designs are made by artists from around the world, using all kinds of mediums and are "inspired by innovative examples of pop art, fringe sub-culture and youth". On the other hand, Rhetoric doesn't use blank t-shirts but rather prints on their own custom made shirts using Peruvian Pima Cotton and flexible nylon threads. I like all their designs with unconventional placement but my favorite is Madre Tierra, which has nice colors and interesting massage. These shirts cost $ 29.00.

Dobodob Shirts

This is name sounds funny, isn't it? It makes you wanna sing... Anyway, Dobodob.com is a new brand located in beautiful Barcelona. The team consists of young artists, illustrators, and graphic designers who collaborate in order to produce a line of shirts that are fresh and funny. According to their "about" page they "have put together the passion for illustration, vector art, graffiti and typography with the passion for t-shirts, always searching for quality products, suitable for everyone." Right now there are seven designs available for sale and, lucky us, they carry a 50% off sale (until the 26th) which makes the European prices look much more desirable. But because you know that I always look after you, use the code "TSAROUND" and get an additional 10% off your order!

It's not a secret that I'm a big fan of FullBleed shirts, so today I was very excited to learn that Series Eight is finally out. If you liked these shirts because of their colorful surreal imagery you won't be disappointed this time. I think this might be one of their strongest lines ever. Not only these designs are imaginative but this time they are bold and daring too. I'm pretty sure that Inked is going to be a massive hit, I'm in love with it already...

SGH Shirts

SGH, which stands for "Solid Gold Hubcaps," is a brand new t-shirt line based in a Los Angeles garage. According to Jeff Lawhead, founder of SGH, the "designs and concepts will be inspected, scrutinized and carefully selected in order to create innovative and thought provoking apparel". The results are simple one color designs that give you this feeling of childhood innocence and nostalgia. I actually think that they make very good children's clothes. They are printed on 100% cotton AA jerseys and cost $18. I'm certainly looking forward to more shirts from these guys.

Ten Bills 7-7-7 Sale

Once again Ten Bills is having a 7 t-shirts, 7 days for $7 each kind of sale. At the same time they launch yet another design, this time a little different than their usual stuff, Bigfoot vs Bunyan. Finally, for 24 hours only you can use coupon "DEADPREZ" and save an extra 10% off your order. Nice!

410BC Launches Spring 09 Line

This is actually Spring 2009 part one for 410BC since they are planning another release on April 10th called Polis. But for the moment lets focus on this one. To be honest, I didn't care that much about the shirts with their logo on, it's a thing I have, I don't mind if the logo appears in the design but I do mind if the design is the logo. Nevertheless I totally loved the rest of the line which consists of four more designs. There's a lot of photography involved and in a very creative ways. Maybe the weirdest design is the Unicorn, which features a "cosmic" unicorn en face (that's something you don't often see on unicorn designs). Anyway, my two favorite picks would be Save me from Technology and Eye of the Beholder. Huge prints, geometric shapes, photography, colors, what else do you need? Oh, I know, you want a coupon don't you? Use code "tshirtsaround" at their bigcartel store to get 15% off your order.

ZBQ News

Ok, the bad news is that, as from February 21st, ZBQ will be raising its prices. The good news is that from now on shipping is free. Thus if you're a good hunter, like myself, you should know what that means. From today and until Feb 21st, you can buy any ZBQ shirt for the lower price and combine it with free shipping! Am I a cheep little bastard or what?

I usually don't feature design competions, but because I know a lot of designers read this blog I thought I should give it a mention. ShirtFight.com is a new t-shirt design competition site that's about to be launched on March 5th. Their pledge is to keep things fun with weekly themed competitions, keep the community #1 priority, and to sustain the individuality and the uniqueness of the artists by not carrying more than 21 shirts at any given time. And now the monies, normally the weekly cash prizes are set to $500, but for the first contest the winner will receive a whopping $2009 (yes that's because they launch on 2009). Check it out if you're interested!

...When Akumu Ink nailed yet another awesome design! The Canadian duo did it again, their latest design, The Storm, featuring a dead man walking in the storm under his umbrella, is as dark as expected. It's inspired by the Netherlands hardcore band Meet the Storm, which might not be exactly my cup of tea (although sometimes I find my self listening to death metal at work when I'm upset) but still, that doesn't prevent me of buying this bad ass shirt. The Storm costs $21.99 and is printed on fitted Black American Apparel shirt.
