I first featured FAQ back in Nov 2008 (boy, time flies!) and sort of lost track of it. Turns out, Sam Iravani (owner and designer of the brand) has been really creative all this time, adding two more theme based collections to the store. The first one, Forecast, is a mini collection of different weather patterns, minimally designed with electric colors on black shirts. The second collection, Downturn, is inspired by today's bad economy. Personally, I have in my closet one of the older designs, Oliver (currently, ahem ahem, on sale), witch has been one of my most popular shirts ever, and I've been very satisfied by the quality of the print (water based inks) and the fabric. I should probably tell you that FAQ make their own slim fit shirts from 100% soft and light weight cotton. If you feel more adventurous, there's also a collection of mystery boxes on which you get a hell of a deal; I'd love to try the limited edition His & Hers Heart Box, designed for Valentine's day, in witch you get two shirts for the price of one! But like the cheap bastards that we are, we wanted more and we ended up getting this sweet promo code for 15% off everything! Type digitalfaq at checkout and have fun shirt-hunting at FAQ...

New Collections from FAQ

It's not the first time I've mentioned Pale Horse Design in this blog (see), but this is the first post specifically for this studio. Chris Parks, the man behind Pale Horse, has been around for quite some time, creating artwork, designing t-shirts for many brands, and organizing art shows. One of my favorite events organized by Chris (along with Hydro74) is Back in Black, which happens once a year and is a t-shirt exhibit where you can actually see your shirt being printed right on the spot. So the good news is that finally Pale Horse has his own online store, hosted by merchline, where you can buy his awesome art and shirts. His designs, inspired by religious iconography and ancient or world cultures, are bold and in-your-face, with huge prints, and amazing rich colors, so if this is your style, you should definitely check it out. He screen-prints on American Apparel 100% ringspun cotton shirts and will charge you a fair $22 (plus s&h) to send you one of his gems.

When it comes to Concrete Hermit shirts, I'm not shy about it, I just adore what these guys are up to, and of course, I'm always excited to see their new work. This time they launched a bunch of new designs, seven to be exact, that are one better than the other. My favorite of them all would be Bob London's Dog, a visually stunning design that can't get my eyes off! Concrete Hermit shirts are made of 100% cotton and will cost you a good £25 (plus s&h). Hey, it's not my fault that all cool things come from the other side of the Atlantic!

Brand New Brand: Lady Umbrella
Posted by Katrina at 11:20 AM Labels: brand new brand , lady umbrella , new t-shirt brand
Lady Umbrella is a brand new brand launched just last week. It features ladies shirts designed by Spanish artist Elena Montes Casado and is based in Dublin, Ireland. For starts, let me just say that I'm glad to see a women's brand with such sophisticated and artistic designs. Lady Umbrella's shirts tell a story, a story about Lady Umbrella that is scattered all around the garment and you're called to "read" it. But besides a good design, the guys put a lot of thought and effort to the quality of the garment by customizing the t-shirts, the print, and the labels. These beauties will regularly be priced at €29.99 (that would be Euros), but you can still get them at a special opening sale price for €24.99. Of course, if you wanna go all the way, join their fan page at FB, write which one is your favorite design and you'll receive an exclusive promo code that will bring the price down to €22.50! Have fun my sweet lady hunters (with or without umbrella)!

Feed the Hungry Shirt for Haiti
Posted by Katrina at 7:55 PM Labels: charity t-shirts , Feed the Hungry , Pyknic
I've been receiving many emails from clothing companies that donate part of their proceeds to help support Haiti, and obviously I can't start posting every single one of them, but I found Pyknic Clothing's offer extremely generous. Pyknic will be donating 75% of the proceeds from the sale of Feed the Hungry tee towards Yele Haiti! Besides the fact that this is a big percentage, the shirt is very reasonably priced at $20 and is totally wearable!
Akumu Ink usually releases one or two designs at a batch, but this time around they've been really productive and launched a line of six whole new designs! I'm not gonna go on again about how-much-I-love-their-shirts and blah blah blah; the only thing I should say though, is that two of these designs are in collab with La Carmina, which apparently (and pardon my ignorance) is kinda of a big deal!

Brand New Brand: Plink Design

Just discovered Plink Design which is the work of a sole person, NY based graphic designer Joseph Mueller. At this point his shop features just one design, but I thought it really sets the mood for what will follow. The whole line is called Rain Drops & Rhombuses and consists of limited edition shirts, printed on 6oz Gildan shirts. I really loved Rain Drop (the first design) not just because I'm a sucker for minimal designs (which I am), but also because I found the color choice quite unusual and brave. Rain Drop can be all your's and part of your closet for a fair $20!
Brand New Brand: P.D.A.C.
Posted by Katrina at 6:54 AM Labels: brand new brand , P.D.A.C. , Pyrotechnic Display at Celebrations
P.D.A.C. stands for Pyrotechnic Display at Celebrations, what a name for a clothing brand, right? Well, according to Amber, these guys love and are kinda obsessed with abstract designs "from light that compete with figure-ground relationships and shape". Anyhoo, their first release is a beautiful black and white v-neck shirt with an image based off of a photograph of a firework. I'm all in for abstract designs (pyrotechnic or not) and of course I can never have enough black and white all-over designs! Thus I give a thumbs up to P.D.A.C. and look forward for more design releases (ahem ahem... I've seen the sketches...) You'll have to pay a good $35 (plus $10 for s&h) to warm up your torso with this piece of fabric, but it might just worth it!

Pure Purple Awesomeness at DBH
Posted by Katrina at 6:37 PM Labels: dbh , design by humans , shirt of the week
Kudos to DBH for this awesome purple goodness! Which is kinda funny because just yesterday, during an inner debate, I decided that purple is going to be my favorite color for 2010. Last year was obviously a yellow year for me, but after toggling for a while between purples and greens, I thought that I will always have time for green and finally decided purple is my new love. So yay(!) for DBH and shirt of the week, Ship to Shore, which takes extra kudos for being the work of valorandvellum a local San Luis Obispo, CA, (love love love SLO!) artist.
Brand New Brand: Submit & Remix
Posted by Katrina at 8:51 AM Labels: artists t-shirts , brand new brand , new t-shirt brand , submit and remix
This is officially the first "Brand New Brand" of 2010 and I couldn't be happier for choosing it. Submit & Remix opened on Jan 1st and is an artist focused brand (we can never have enough of those). The idea is to take two artists and assign them a design based on a theme, then they ask the artists to remix each others designs in their own style. Thus the name of the brand, Submit & Remix! But when these first two artists are two of my favorite artists of all times (ok you know I might be exaggerating a little here, right?)... this brand gets really interesting! The first S&R artists are Horsebites and Keaton Henson, two of the sickest artists out there, and the theme is the beginning! These shirts are 100% cotton jerseys and will cost you a good £24.99 (plus s&h which for my US hunters is £8).

Brilliancy!!!

Less is more, they say, and right now it's all you're getting, since I have to rush out of the house! Love love love the couple of tees this graphic designer, Alexandr Schwarz, is showcasing at his page. I'm not sure though if they are available to buy online and for how much...

Not sure if I've ever covered Milk & Eggs, a brand that sells some pretty wearable shirts, but in any case I thought I should give you the heads up regarding some new designs they have. Generally, M&E designs are quite minimal and say a lot with very little, and are always fun to look and wear, so the two new designs couldn't be any different. I totally adore the Self Portrait, it's fun and works in so many levels, and I can absolutely see me wearing the Tree Buddies, although the color is not my favorite. These shirts and any other shirt in this site, sell for a fair $18 (plus s&h), but you will get a nice 20% off if you use code YAY2010 at checkout. Yay 2010! Yay Milk & Eggs!
